Neighbourhood Walks: Theatre Kidz Made Me Do It

This artist-led virtual video walk is an art student's reflection on the power of education. As isi bhakhomen travels from home to school, they will take the time to recall on precious moments that have impacted their artistic growth. Throughout this excursion, isi  hopes to share the wonders of what it's like to be a part of a theatre arts community. They will take the time to reminisce over the past three years with both fondness and dread. Looking back at your mistakes isn't easy, but knowing you made it to the other side is worth celebrating. Theatre Kidz Made Me Do It is an ode to all the weird art nerds brave enough to stand in their truth.

isi bhakhomen (b.1997) is an Afro-Peruvian/Nigerian photographer, filmmaker, actor, and playwright. As a storyteller, they are determined to share the unique perspectives of what it's like to be Negra in today's world. Their practice is focused on connecting to ancestry and play. Being raised in T'karonto has taught them the importance of honouring those who came before us and those who will come after us. To be a creator is an honour that they carry with pride. Currently they are based in Tiohtià:ke, as they are in midst of finishing their final year of acting at the National Theatre School of Canada.
