Printed Presence: Rembrandt
To complement the Painted Presence: Rembrandt and his Peers exhibit, May Open Door will feature etchings by Rembrandt, as well as an original Rembrandt drawing, The Quack. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see so many works on paper by this 17-century Dutch master, including the famous Hundred Guilder Print. The exhibit will focus on the humanity and compassion which shine through Rembrandt’s Biblical and figurative work, as well as his experimentation with technique, ink, composition and atmospheric effect.
Please note: For this special Open Doors, vault requests will only be taken during the afternoon. The evening will feature an extended Rembrandt exhibit.
The Marvin Gelber Print and Drawing Centre offers a monthly Open Door! Enjoy a behind the scenes look at our world class Print Room. A selection of original works from our vault will be on view, and you can request to view works from the Prints, Drawings, and Photography vault. The collection includes over 90,000 works on paper dating from the 13th century to the present day.
