Rebel Youth Quilting Lab

Wednesdays in January, 4-5:30pm
The Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School

Join The Neon Needle at the AGO’s Gallery School for a hands-on Quilting Experience:  you'll learn essential hand-sewing and quilting techniques, delve into the work of artists and the historic quilts that shaped cultural moments, and create your own quilt block. This isn’t your grandma’s quilt! Quilting has always been bold, subversive, political, even punk rock!

January 7 & 14: Create your own Mini-Quilt to take home and admire.

January 28 & February 4: Create a quilt block, learning foundation piecing, big stitch quilting, and hand-sewing techniques. Each block will be sewn together to create 1-2 large-scale functional Community Quilts.

*Please note there is no workshop on January 21, 2026.

Young Ontarians under the age of 25 can enjoy the AGO for free, all year long with the Free Annual Pass.

The Neon Needle is a Creative Sewing, Needlecraft, Fashion, Textile, and Leathercraft Studio in Koreatown, Toronto.
