The Research Behind Eleonora Susette

Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2pm
Marvin Gelber Print & Drawing Study Centre, Art Gallery of Ontario

Join curator Dr. Adam Harris Levine and his colleague Dr. Monique Johnson as they dive into a modern mystery. Learn about the research process behind the AGO's proposed identity for Jeremias Schultz's painting of a woman holding an orange blossom. The two will share their findings from a years long, interdisciplinary research project, leading to the AGO's retitling of the painting.

Adam Harris Levine is associate curator of European Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Monique Johnson served as interim assistant curator of European Art at the AGO when this project began. Today, she works at York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design.
