Meet in the Community Gallery located in the WFLC on the Concourse Level
Make new art connections and spark conversations! If you are age 65+, join us for the launch of a new monthly series that combines conversation with art and artmaking.
Older adults are invited to have a social and creative experience in the heart of the AGO. The program explores a selection of artworks from the AGO Collections with conversations facilitated by an AGO Educator. After the tour, over coffee and tea, inspired by some of the ideas and artwork examples, you’ll create an artwork of your own.
The class explores a new set of artworks and artmaking studio experiences each month, and participants enjoy coffee, tea, social time and artmaking in our Gallery School for the second half of this workshop.
Our Educators work both one-on-one and collectively with the group to support each student participant. Students with a diverse range of art knowledge, art studio skills and cognitive abilities are encouraged to attend. A friendly and casual afternoon, Seniors Social is designed to support the sharing of ideas, deep looking and creative artmaking.
Absolute beginners are welcome. All materials are provided. Please wear comfortable shoes and casual clothing suitable for light-touch artmaking. Please check heavy bags and coats before the program begins at the AGO Coat Check on the first floor.
Drinks in sealed containers are permitted in the galleries and in the studio.
Students will meet their AGO educator in the Community Gallery located on the Concourse (Lower Level).
Ask our team for any additional accommodations you may require. Please present your pre-paid registration receipt to the educator either in paper version or on your phone.
If you are looking for a more in-depth studio experience, we recommend any one of our Introductory Studio courses for adults.
