Seniors Social: The Artist's Process
Join us for our Seniors Social and ignite new connections. This engaging monthly workshop series for older adults fosters an environment to dive into meaningful conversations that are weaved with art exploration and creation. Engaging with art and expressing creativity enhances well-being, so join the conversation and let art be your guide!
Explore how different artists come to create unique works—sometimes stemming from personal lived experience or political convictions, sometimes from a desire to step outside of and critique society, andother times, from a deep desire to connect and harmonize with others. Using acrylics on paper, participants will start the session in the gallery school, preparing papers for collage. After the tour, we’ll create small individual surface design works to better understand the use of pattern and abstraction in the work of many contemporary and modern artworks. During the tour, participants will make stops at Moments in Modernism, Reality and Reverie, and become immersed in Sonia Boyce: Feeling Her Way installation.
