Seniors Social: James Tissot
Make new art connections and spark conversations! If you are an older adult, join us for the virtual Seniors Social Program, a biweekly series that combines conversations with art and artmaking. The AGO believes that providing opportunities to experience art and artmaking increases well-being.
We will explore a portrait of The Shop Girl by James Tissot. Tissot was part of the "realist" movement in 19th century France which sought to focus on the here and now. This past year has been challenging for many of us, but we've also all adapted in remarkable ways. If you were to draw, paint or sculpt an image of yourself going about your daily life this year in a brave way, what would you be doing? You can take a look at other Portraits of Resilience for some inspiration here.
We will explore collage inspired by the artwork we discuss. Please have printed photographs, newspapers, magazines and/or construction paper, scissors and glue ready to make art together.
