Seniors Social: Pacita Abad

Tuesday November 12, 1 pm, 2024
The Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School

Join us for our Seniors Social and ignite new connections. This engaging monthly workshop series for older adults fosters an environment to dive into meaningful conversations that are weaved with art exploration and creation. Engaging with art and expressing creativity enhances well-being, so join the conversation and let art be your guide!

Find inspiration while touring the late Philippines-born artist Pacita Abad’s retrospective exhibition. Take a close look at Abad's experiments in different mediums: textiles, works on paper, paintings, prints, and a range of archival material and studio ephemera—largely influenced by artistic techniques she encountered while traveling to more than 60 countries. We'll discuss how her art and her choice of materials was influenced by her own upbringing and engagement with social justice. Inspired by Abad’s surfaces and colourful compositions, we’ll create tapestry-like images for our art-making project.
