A Traced Feeling is based on the forward bend test, a physical examination that assesses for scoliosis by running a finger down a person’s spine, feeling for a curvature. The comfort and trust of being "traced" in such an examination is tactile, leaving a lasting impression. Participants will be invited to trace surrounding surfaces with their index finger and draw a corresponding line, examining the shape their bodies make in the spaces around them. A Traced Feeling is presented as part of Movement/Nature: Guided Exercises by Artists, an online project curated by OCADU’s Criticism and Curatorial Practice MFA program students.

Alexis Bulman is an interdisciplinary artist based in Epekwitk’/ Prince Edward Island. Through performance, sculpture and installations, she explores themes of wonderment, trust, care and the negotiations of access in public and private spaces. Bulman’s work engages community through collaboration and relies on movement and the instincts of her body to inform her conversations with places. She holds a BFA from NSCAD University. Bulman has presented work at Artspace (ON), Eyelevel Gallery (NS), Nocturne: Art at Night (NS), The Confederation Centre Art Gallery (PEI), The Robert McLaughlin Gallery (ON), and Connexion ARC (NB). She was the inaugural artist in residence for the Interrogating Access Residency supported by OBORO and Spectrum Productions (QC).
