Students working on sculptures in clay

Introduction to Sculpture

Introduction to Sculpture is a foundational course designed to explore the essential techniques and creative processes of sculpture. Students will be introduced to various materials such as clay and found objects, learning how to shape, carve, mold, and assemble three-dimensional forms. Through hands-on projects, participants will gain an understanding of proportion, balance, texture, and space while fostering their individual artistic expression. The course also includes discussions on the history of sculpture, contemporary practices, and critiques to develop a critical eye.

This course is suitable for a range of skill levels from beginner up, and all basic materials for this course are supplied by the AGO.  Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.
