FAQ

Why are there so few spots available for school visits?

Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors is a record breaking exhibition which has sold out instantly at all its previous venues. Due to high demand, the AGO is unable to accommodate group bookings, with the exception of a very limited number of spaces available for K-12 school visits which will be allocated via a lottery.

How do I apply for the school visits lottery?

Applications for the school visits lottery will be accepted via an online booking form which will be available from January 8 – February 9, 2018.

Confirmations to successful applicants will be sent by February 21. Please do not book your transportation until your visit date and time has been confirmed.

The AGO is pleased to offer 10 mornings for K-12 school visits to Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors:

What time can I visit with my students?

Tickets for Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors are time ticketed to ensure the best possible experience – all school groups will be assigned a 15 minute timeslot for entry. School visits will be scheduled in the following timeslots:

  • 10:30 am
  • 10:45 am
  • 11:00 am
  • 11:15 am
  • 11:30 am
  • 11:45 am

How long should I expect to spend in the exhibition with my group?

Plan on spending 1.5-2 hours in the exhibition space.

Will there be a student and teacher resources guide to help plan our group visit to Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors?

What is the cost per student to visitYayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors?

The cost per student is $14. This includes HST and General Admission to the AGO. There is no charge for the required number of adult chaperones.

What grade level do you recommend this exhibition for?

This exhibition is recommended for all grade levels.

Are guided tours and artmaking visits available?

Due to the immersive nature of this exhibition, guided tours and artmaking visits will not be offered.

Are the Infinity Mirror Rooms wheelchair accessible?

Standard wheelchairs can enter and exit the Infinity Mirror Rooms one at a time. However, due to size restrictions, wheelchairs cannot turn around once inside the rooms and must back out to exit. While the Infinity Mirror Rooms have varying sizes, the narrowest entry point is 77cm (30 inches) wide. Please see our main exhibition page for more information.

How many students can I bring?

In order to respond to high demand, we must limit each teacher to no more than one group of up to sixty (60) people total - this includes students and chaperones.

There is no minimum group size for K- 12 school visits.

What is your chaperone policy?

Students visiting the Infinity Rooms must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times.
Our chaperone ratio for this exhibition is as follows:

Number of students:chaperones

20 and under: 2
21-30: 3
31-40: 4
41-50: 5
51-60: 6

 

Groups must arrive with the required number of chaperones. Schools that arrive without the required number of chaperones may be denied entry.

There is no admission fee for the required number of chaperones.

Due to the limited number of tickets available for school visits, additional chaperones will not be admitted.

I have been selected! How do I confirm my booking?

If your class has been selected, the AGO will require a deposit of $150 due by Wednesday, March 21. If payment has not been received by the deposit deadline, your booking will be released.

There is no deposit required for TDSB schools who confirm their booking with a purchase order number.

Will I be notified if I do not get selected for a school visit?

All teachers who have submitted an application for the lottery will be notified by the end of February 2018 whether or not they have been selected for a school visit.

I am a post-secondary instructor at a college or university – am I able to apply to bring my students?
