Introduction to Printmaking - Weekend Intensive

Explore both traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques while working on a large-format printing press. You’ll experiment with lino block, silkscreen printing, and drypoint etching, discovering the unique qualities of each process.

Printmaking Explorations: Linocut

Printmaking Explorations: Linocut is a specialized course focusing on the bold and expressive art of linocut printmaking. Students will learn the entire process of linocut, from designing and carving a linoleum block to inking and printing their final images. Emphasis will be placed on mastering carving tools, understanding positive and negative space, and experimenting with texture and pattern. Through a series of hands-on projects, participants will create original prints while exploring various inks and types of paper.

Explore the versatile art of monoprinting with gel plates and acrylic paints in this 4 week course. Students will delve into techniques such as layering, masking, image transfers, and additive painting to create rich, complex prints that are truly one of a kind. Experience the satisfying tactile process of building textures and depth as you experiment with colour and composition to produce dynamic, expressive prints.  This is a great class for those interested in mastering approachable printmaking techniques that can be done at home.

Making Together: Monoprinting

Age Range Description
Ages 6-10 + 1 Adult

Join us for our 1 day family workshops where children with an adult caregiver will explore artists and artworks in the AGO collection and get inspired to create art together. This Winter we’ll make one-of-a-kind prints and experiment with colour, texture, and layering. 

This class is for 1 child and 1 adult.  

All materials are included. 

Please bring your receipt (digital or printed) and meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School. 

Making Together: Printmaking (+ Adult) March Break

Have fun getting creative and explore the magic of printmaking with your young artist. In this 1-day workshop during March Break, children with an adult caregiver will focus on self-expression and discovery while combining art and play, creating their own unique artwork together.
