Choreographer and dancer, Andrea Spaziani and composer Matt Smith created a performance in 2017-2018 while in residence at Dancemakers Centre for Creation in Toronto. The product of their collaboration, Silver Venus, premiered in the Distillery theatre. It now has a new, post-COVID life as not only a film but an immersive audio piece. Currently, and against all odds, it is being remounted at OFFTA in Montreal, where Silver Venus (Redux) rides again.

Join us for a conversation with the artists about the process of remounting the performance at this time, doing field recordings under lockdown and extending the sonic dimension digitally to your headphones.

. . .

Andrea Spaziani generates choreographic scores by combining movement, speaking and writing in a stream of improvisation. She is preoccupied by the question “Why do I think the way that I do?” and works with bias as material in order to decompose its influence. She has been living between Toronto, New York City and Marfa, Texas). https://andreaspaziani.com/

Matt Smith is a Toronto-based musician/sound artist, sound designer, sound engineer, fabricator, composer and dramaturg. Matt makes sounds for theatre and dance and film, and music for concert halls, bars and clubs, and in many other contexts. https://princenifty.com/
