Art in the Spotlight: Chaddy-Ann
Join artist Chaddy-Ann Newton for a conversation with the AGO’s Annie Roper about his recent work.
Chaddy-Ann Newton is an artist based in Toronto. He operates primarily on intuition and observation and is best known for drawings centred around anthropomorphised ducks in a series of ever changing environments and situations. Of this work, he says, “I found that inspiration came to me more quickly through the ducks – I could envision the world they inhabited and they had a sort of voice about them that allowed me to see how they could grow and interact within this environment I was perceiving." He has published comic books and zines, designed posters, completed portrait commissions, and participated in the Toronto Comic Arts Festival and the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival.
