Belinda Tate and Stephan Jost in Conversation
Join Stephan Jost, AGO Michael and Sonja Koerner Director, and CEO, and Belinda A. Tate, the Executive Director of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts for a conversation on the role of museums.
Belinda A. Tate is the Executive Director of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in Kalamazoo, MI. With a budget of $3MM, the institute (comprised of an excellent museum and art school) serves more than 100,000 students and patrons annually. She formerly served as the Director of Diggs Gallery at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) since 1999, and served as an at-large Commissioner of African American Heritage for the State of North Carolina. Tate has curated over 50 exhibitions. Her work has been recognized by the International Review of African American Art with over 100 exhibitions reviews and articles appearing in myriad publications.
Stephan Jost became the director of the Art Gallery of Ontario in 2016. Following his appointment, Stephan demonstrated immediate leadership by thoughtfully exploring the AGO’s visitorship, collection and key strengths in order to strategically focus on three mission-aligned areas: art, access and learning. He has overseen the revitalization of several key areas in the Gallery, helped clarify new audience target segments; and launched Look:Forward, a major reinstallation of the AGO’s remarkable Collection.
