Collective Views: A Symposium on Photography in Toronto

Tuesday, March 10 - Wednesday, March 11

Day 1 Location: Museum of Contemporary Art, 158 Sterling Rd, Toronto, ON M6R 2B2
Day 2 Location: Art Gallery of Ontario, 317 Dundas St W, Toronto ON M5T 1G4

This symposium offers a chance to reflect on Toronto and its relationship to photography. Across sessions spanning the 1970s to the present, it brings together artists, artworks, cultural figures, scholars, exhibitions, organizations, collections, art schools, and publications that have shaped evolving understandings of the city and the medium—describing Toronto as a place where photography continues to be vital, generative, and connective.

The symposium is co-presented on the occasion of Collective Visions: Celebrating 25 Years of Photography at the AGO and Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023 at MOCA.
