Members' Night | The Impressionist Revolution

Friday July 10, 5-9 pm

You’re invited to an unforgettable evening at the Gallery—designed just for our Members. From the opening of The Impressionist Revolution and a special curator's talk, to expert-led tours and hands-on artmaking, this Members’ Night is your chance to celebrate art, community, and connection at the AGO.

 

Highlights of the Evening

The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse from the Dallas Museum of Art

  • Experience the Canadian debut of this sweeping overview of Impressionism, which illustrates the origins of the movement and its considerable impact on two successive generations of avant-garde painters. Drawn from the extensive holdings of the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibition includes key works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Berthe Morisot, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Edvard Munch, and more.
     
  • Join 30-minute guided tours throughout the evening in the exhibition with an AGO Art Educator. 

 

Curator Talk with Dr. Caroline Shields, Curator, European Art • Marvin Gelber Print & Drawing Study Centre • 6–7 pm

  • Join curator Dr. Caroline Shields for an in-depth look at the origins and impacts of the Impressionist movement, including how these experimental artists set a new course for modern art in the late 19th and 20th centuries. 
     
  • This is a VIP event for Supporter, Enthusiast & Contributor level Members - please RSVP in advance to secure your spot. 
  • Remaining space opens to all other Members at 5:55 pm—first-come, first-served. 

 

Drop-in Artmaking • Walker Court • 6–8:30 pm

  • Inspired by the vibrant still lifes featured in The Impressionist Revolution, visitors are invited to explore their creativity through hands-on artmaking using a variety of materials, including drawing tools, watercolour pencils and quick sticks. Enjoy a creative moment on your own or with friends, and relax with drinks or snacks from the Espresso Bar.

 

AGO’s Iconic Collection Tours • 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30 pm

  • Join guided highlight tours of the AGO’s iconic collection.

 

Members-Only Dining & Cocktail Lounge • 5–9 pm  

  • Enjoy Members-only dining in the newly refreshed Grange House, or unwind in the Grange Library with a handcrafted cocktail and snack pairing served from the walk-up bar. Settle into one of the Gallery’s most beautiful historic spaces and connect with fellow Members throughout the evening.

The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse from the Dallas Museum of Art is organized by the Dallas Museum of Art and curated by Dr. Nicole R. Myers, the DMA’s Chief Curatorial and Research Officer and The Barbara Thomas Lemmon Senior Curator of European Art. The AGO presentation will be led by Dr. Caroline Shields, AGO Curator, European Art.
