Multisensory Museum: James Tissot's La Femme a Paris: The Ladies of the Cars
How can artists and designers create more multisensory experiences? OCADU Graduate Students in response to an Inclusive Design Multisensory Museum Course share their co-creative process of translating artworks in the AGO collection into multisensory objects. Students explore a wide variety of techniques to create an inclusive gallery experience in a series of Multisensory Museum Moments.
In this program, Lynn Alkhouri shares a multi-sensory translation of James Tissot’s La Femme a Paris: The Ladies of the Cars (1885). Creating a captivating experience intended for everyone to enjoy, especially low vision and blind visitors, her representation recreates the circus ambiance represented in the artwork by incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory senses.
Lynn Alkhouri (she/her) is a Syrian designer, illustrator, and animal rescuer based in Beirut, Lebanon. Enrolled in the Inclusive Design graduate program at OCAD University, she intends to create more inclusive digital experiences and shift her career towards a human centric path.
