Painting Explorations: Pop Art, Abstraction, Realism and Minimalism

"Painting Explorations: Pop Art, Abstraction, Realism, and Minimalism" offers a comprehensive journey through four distinct yet interconnected genres that have shaped the landscape of contemporary painting. This course invites students to investigate the bold and vibrant world of Pop Art, exploring its use of popular culture and consumerism as artistic inspiration. Moving into Abstraction, participants will delve into the realm of non-representational art, studying how artists convey emotions, concepts, and forms through color, shape, and texture. The exploration of Realism focuses on the meticulous representation of subjects, emphasizing detail and lifelike qualities. Finally, Minimalism challenges students to distill art to its essential elements, exploring concepts of simplicity, repetition, and spatial relationships. Through practical exercises, discussions, and critiques, students will gain a nuanced understanding of these diverse painting styles and their enduring impact on contemporary art practices.

This course is suitable for all skill levels. Please meet in the Gallery School.
