Art in the Spotlight: Lotus Laurie Kang
Join artist Lotus Laurie Kang for a conversation with Sophie Hackett, AGO Curator of Photography about her recent work.
Lotus Laurie Kang is an artist living in Toronto. Her work has been exhibited at SculptureCenter, Interstate Projects, CUE Art Foundation, New York; Oakville Galleries, Oakville; The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Franz Kaka, Cooper Cole, 8-11, Gallery TPW, The Loon, and Carl Louie, Toronto; Remai Modern Saskatoon; Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran and L’inconnue, Montreal; Raster Gallery, Warsaw; Wroclaw Contemporary Museum, Poland; and Camera Austria, Graz. She has been artist-in-residence at Rupert Vilnius; Tag Team, Bergen; The Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, Alberta; and Interstate Projects Brooklyn. She holds an MFA from the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College and is represented by Franz Kaka in Toronto.
Sophie Hackett is Curator, Photography at the AGO. Selected AGO exhibitions include Diane Arbus: Photographs, 1956-1971 (2020), Anthropocene (2018) Outsiders: American Photography and Film, 1950s-1980s (2016) Thomas Ruff: Object Relations (2016) and Introducing Suzy Lake (2014).
