Black Tie Soup Night by Lauren Prousky

Friday, April 14, 7 pm
Walker Court, Art Gallery of Ontario

Don your most elegant, outrageous and extravagant garments and join us at Black Tie* Soup Night (BTSN), an absurdist art happening, a participatory performance and a party. Guests will enjoy a performance by David Lee Broth (Ben Gorodetsky) and complimentary soup developed exclusively by Shalaka Jadhav.

Developed by AGO x RBC Artist-in-Residence Lauren Prousky, BTSN is a playful project exploring the theoretical concept of “primordial soup” to posit that we’re all soup people: floating, mixing and melting into each other in order to get by.

Dress code is strongly encouraged.

We are using “Black Tie*” as a stand-in for fancy and fancy can mean many things! Is it gowns and tuxes? Of course! But is it also over-the-top sparkles, accessories and bold choices? YES! For BTSN, we want to see opulence, glamour and CAMP above all else. Basically, come dressed up in whatever makes you feel fancy, schmancy and fabulous.

For requests for Verbal Description, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and/or live captioning for online and onsite programming, please provide three weeks notice in advance of the event date. The AGO will make every effort to provide accommodation for requests made with less than three weeks notice. Please note that automated captioning is available for all online programs. For onsite visits, the AGO offers these supports for an accessible visit. Please contact us to make a request for these or other accessibility accommodations. Learn more about accessibility at the AGO.
