Join photographer Elizabeth Greenberg and Sophie Hackett, AGO Curator of Photography, in conversation on Greenberg’s work with acclaimed American photographer Arnold Newman (1918 - 2006). Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Building Icons: Arnold Newman’s Magazine World, 1938-2000.
Elizabeth Greenberg is an artist and educator living on the coast of Maine. She studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design and obtained an MFA from Vermont College. Greenberg’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and she has curated numerous exhibitions. Between 1991 to 1994, Greenberg worked for Newman as his Studio Manager and Assistant. She continuing to work on special projects with him until 2000. Greenberg now serves on the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation to administer the Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture to honour her mentor’s legacy. She is currently the Arnold and Augusta Newman Provost at Maine Media Workshops + College where she teaches in both the certificate and MFA programs.
