Wednesday November 6th

Art conservators, art historians, artists, curators, researchers, collectors, and the curious are invited to join the Looking at Blue Paper Team (Maia C Donnelly, Samuel H. Kress Conservation Fellow, papermaker and bookbinder; Paper Conservators Joan Weir and Tessa Thomas); and special guest Dr. Thea Burns, Independent Scholar and Adjunct Associate Professor, Art Conservation, Queen’s University for a discussion of blue paper supports 1400-1800 found in the AGO drawing collection. Be introduced to the qualities, history, and production of blue paper as a drawing support using examples from the collection.

The Looking at Blue Paper team would like to acknowledge the support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and the Michael and Sonja Koerner Conservation Initiatives Fund.

This morning session is free, but the limited seating makes registration essential.

All Study Day participants are also invited to attend Open Door Wednesdays in the Marvin Gelber Print and Drawing Study Center (1:00-8:00pm). A selection of drawings on blue paper will be on display. Visit ago.ca/events/open-door-wednesdays
