Members' Night | Paul McCartney

You’re invited to an unforgettable evening at the Gallery—designed just for our Members. From the opening of Paul McCartney Photographs and a curator talk and tour to hands-on artmaking and multi-sensory DJ sets, this Members’ Night is your chance to celebrate art, community, and connection at the AGO.

Highlights of the Evening

Opening Night Exclusive Member Access: Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm

  • Be the first to experience  photographs from Paul McCartney’s personal archive—capturing the incredible moment when The Beatles first arrived in North America, where they were catapulted from British sensation to global superstars. 
     
  • Join a 30-minute guided tour with an AGO Art Educator and examine how Paul McCartney’s photographs reveal an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of life during the rise of Beatlemania.

 

Curator Talk: How The Beatles changed the world, and Canada played an integral part • Marvin Gelber Print & Drawing Study Centre • 7–8 pm 

  • Join curator Jim Shedden and Piers Hemmingsen, Canada's foremost expert on Beatlemania, and the author of two epic-length books on the subject, including The Beatles in Canada, The Evolution 1964-1970, for an in-depth discussion of the rise of Beatlemania in Canada. Uncover distinctly Canadian experiences, like the pressing of distinctive Capitol of Canada Beatles singles and LPs, the formation of the Ontario chapter of The Beatles fan club, and the role of radio stations like CHUM and retailers. like Sam's, A&As, Simpson's and Eaton's, in creating excitement around all things Beatles. 
     
  • This is a VIP event for Enthusiast & Contributor level Members; remaining space opens to Members at 6:45 pm—first-come, first-served. 

 

Drop-in Artmaking • Sculpture Atrium • 6–9 pm

  • Create mixed media artwork with an AGO Instructor, inspired by Paul McCartney’s photographs, using expressive mark-making and photo collage. 

 

Immersive Music, Culture, and Celebration

  • Black History Month comes alive as Sample Chief transforms Walker Court into a high-energy, multi-sensory celebration of Afro-diasporic sound, story, and culture.

 

Cocktail Hours • Sculpture Atrium • 5–9 pm

  • Taste the flavours inspired by Paul McCartney’s photographs as we transform the Sculpture Atrium for an unforgettable evening. Preview our upcoming Afternoon Tea, featuring elegant wines and refined canapés inspired by British and American classics. Then slip back to the ’60s with two signature cocktails and bite-sized pairings from our upcoming Speakeasy menu, launching in March. Explore, indulge, and savour two distinct tasting experiences in one night.

    Service is casual: walk up, order a drink, grab a bite, and enjoy as you mingle. Additional charges apply.
