Street Players: 1v1 Wh/aacking Battle

Wednesday, February 8, 5 pm
Walker Court, Art Gallery of Ontario

Come watch or compete in the Street Players: 1v1 Wh/aacking Battle in Walker Court,  organized by Canadian Street Dance DJ and supporter Iced Misto. Dancers who train in the style of Punking/Whacking/Waacking battle it out tournament-style for $200, judged by Kevin "Drama" Do. Disco music and sassy tunes will be provided by Iced Misto.

Punking/Whacking/Waacking was formed in the disco era, originating in the LGBTQIA2S+ LA club scene and was popularized by Soul Train. Dancers express themselves by embodying a character while throwing sharp hand and arm movements, striking poses, and using soulful footwork to move around the floor. The dance has a strong emphasis on musicality and interpretation of rhythm.
