Drawing Together in the Galleries (with Adult)

Age 6-7
Age 8-10

There’s no better way to learn to draw than to be surrounded by the incredible art at the AGO and inspired by the drawings, prints, paintings and objects all around you! Adult caregivers and children learn new skills and techniques using a variety of sketching tools while visiting the galleries. 

This class is for 1 child and 1 adult. 

All materials are included. Meet in the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School.

COURSE SECTIONS

Sundays, - | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (5 weeks)

WEEKLY OUTLINE

Week 1: Play drawing games to encourage openness, experimentation and collaboration. Visit the galleries to view artwork inspired by nature by K.M. Graham and Christi Belcourt. Learn about oil pastel techniques and create an oil pastel drawing on black paper inspired by patterns in nature. 

Week 2: Visit the gallery to view landscape paintings by Lawren Harris and Emmanuel Osahor. Create your own drawings and watercolour painting of a landscape exploring colour, movement and harmony. 

Week 3: Finish landscape paintings. Sketching tour of Frank Gehry's architecture at the AGO. 

Week 4: Visit the gallery to view the exhibition Denyse Thomasos: just beyond.  Create a drawing of the city of your dreams. If you could imagine the best city, what would it look like? 

Week 5: Sketching in the Henry Moore Sculpture Gallery exploring form and line. Create your own small sculpture out of modeling clay. Maybe one day you’ll turn it into a giant sculpture like Henry Moore.
