From New York to Vienna: Egon Schiele’s Portrait of Wally
Michael Marrus, Chancellor Rose and Ray Wolfe Professor Emeritus of Holocaust Studies at the University of Toronto and a Senior Fellow of Massey College, teaches in both law and history. His recent book, Some Measure of Justice, on the Holocaust era restitution campaign of the 1990s, raises important questions about art restitution and, more generally, justice for historic wrongs. His talk looks at the famous case, settled this past summer, concerning the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Leopold Museum in Vienna and the Portrait of Wally, by Austrian expressionist artist Egon Schiele.
Close Encounters is an intimate first-hand experience with treasures from the AGO’s collection of works on paper.
