Photo Club

Thursdays, January 16 - March 5, 2020
The Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School

In response to the Diane Arbus: Photographs, 1956-1971 exhibition, Photo Club is an eight-week program that looks at the relationship between Instagram and portraiture. Taught by local photographer May Truong, youth will share their photographs each week with each other and learn about photography techniques and about the industry.

May Truong is a Toronto-based portrait photographer. In her work she explores themes of race, gender, belonging and body image. Recent clients include The New York Times, Maclean’s magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard Magazine. She has recently exhibited at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Gardiner Museum with the collective New Ho Queen. She is small but tough. Has excellent karma. Has an enviable lipstick collection, too.

For requests for Verbal Description, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and/or live captioning for online and onsite programming, please provide three weeks notice in advance of the event date.
