Pop-Up Art-Making in Mandarin Inspired by Matthew Wong’s Landscapes

This series is offered in Mandarin.

This is a free event. 

Begin your evening with a 45 minute art-making session and learn about the many shades and ways of blue - free and open to all! Inspired by the exhibition, Matthew Wong: Blue View, participants will be guided in a drawing and colouring exercise led in Mandarin by artist instructor, Jenny Chen. This is a family time pop-up studio - all ages are welcome. Create and share your masterpieces with us!

Jenny Chen

Jenny is a visual artist living in Toronto. She makes art to process information about the world around her while raising questions about spirituality. Her work uses symbols to create mystical environments inspiring viewers to wonder about life beyond the material world. She graduated from OCAD University  in 2016 with a major in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Illustration. Since then, Jenny has worked mainly in watercolour, pen and clay.

Create a drawing inspired by Untitled, 2019 using 4 tones of blue with layering with step by step demonstration. Learn how to see and create tone in a drawing and how the colour blue can evoke specific feelings.

MATERIALS FOR THIS SESSION: A dark blue colour pencil, a regular HB pencil, an eraser, anything else you like to draw with, and a few sheets of white paper.
