TogetherButDifferent: 2v2 Hip-Hop Dance Battle

Come watch or compete in the TogetherButDifferent: 2v2 Hip Hop Dance Battle in Walker Court, organized by TBD Crew, a Canadian Street Dance team. Dancers who train in the style of hip-hop will battle it out in tournament style, as judged by one of Canada’s top hip-hop dancers.

Drop in and dance! Canadian hip-hop dance crew TogetherButDifferent invites you to a series of free dance sessions, teaching hip-hop dance styles and techniques in an inclusive environment.  

RISE UP TAMBAYAN: A Conversation Space for Filipinx Youth

Filipinx/o/a youth, aged 13–30, are invited to RISE UP TAMBAYAN, facilitated by Dee de Lara, Natalie Matias, and others from RISE, for open conversation and connection. Tambayan, which means "a place to hang out" in Tagalog, aims to offer a third space for Filipinx/o/a youth to build bridges to each other, to Filipinx culture and to possibilities. Inspired by Pacita Abad’s commitment to social justice and transnational outlook, RISE will hold space for discussions around navigating the “in-between” and collective liberation. 

Textile Art as Reclamation

Learn different textile art-making skills such as weaving, screen printing, and sewing with a waste-conscious approach from local textile artist Norwin Anne. Textile Art as Reclamation offers an introduction to these textile-based practices while prompting reflections about the fabric of our society through a creative process that aims to inspire cultural reclamation.

An introduction to a traditional art form that will use modern methods of reclaimed materials.

Calling all youth ages 14-25 to join us in the education commons for a guided tour of the Pacita Abad exhibition with Renée van der Avoird, Associate Curator, Canadian Art.

AGO Friday Nights: House Dance Battle with Funky Facilitators and Warehouse Jacks

The Warehouse Jacks in collaboration with Funky Facilitators will be hosting a 1V1 house Dance Battle where competitors will compete in a preliminary round into a top 16 tournament style bracket. Music will be provided by DJ Dirty Dale, one of TO’s most renowned DJ’s in the house scene.  

CANCELLED | Youth Dance Workshop: Punking, Whacking, Waacking

Join us for weekly drop-in punking, whacking, waacking dance workshops with Iced Misto. Originating in LA’s LGBTQ+ club scene, Punking/Waacking gained fame on the iconic Soul Train. Dancers would channel characters through sharp hand and arm movements, striking poses, and weaving soulful footwork across the dance floor. It’s a celebration of expression, deeply braided with musicality and rhythmic interpretation. 

KIKI Vogue Ball x Keith Haring

In honour of Keith Haring, who died of AIDS February 16, 1990, we’re gearing up for a dazzling Vogue Ball! Teaming up with our long-standing community partner, the Toronto Kiki Ballroom Alliance we’ll celebrate our local 2SLGBTQ+ community. At the helm of Toronto Kiki Ballroon Alliance is Legendary Father Twysted Siriano Miyake-Mugler—house founder and father, teacher, activist, advocate, and Canadian ballroom emissary.
