Join Stephanie Smith, the AGO’s Chief Curator, in conversation with the artist Song Dong to discuss his immersive and inviting installation Communal Courtyard. Song Dong is a Beijing-based multidisciplinary artist and leading figure within the Chinese avant-garde.

Join Kasper Monrad, Chief Curator, SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark for a talk about the celebrated Danish painter, Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916). Monrad is the curator of Painting Tranquility: Masterworks by Vilhelm Hammershøi from SMK which features a selection of paintings from across Hammershøi’s body of work, including several of the quiet home interiors for which he earned the title “de stillestuers maler” (the painter of tranquil rooms).

Vast increases in the number, type and location of institutions dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art have produced a situation in which artists and curators now speak of a tread-mill of non-stop programming and commitments.

Join renowned German photographer Thomas Ruff and the AGO’s Associate Curator of Photography, Sophie Hackett for a conversation on the occasion of Thomas Ruff: Object Relations. The exhibition features works from Ruff’s ongoing series Negative (2014 – ongoing) as well as his acclaimed series Sterne (1989 – 1992), Zeitungsfotos (1990 – 1991) and Maschinen (2003).
