Exciting news! We’ve launched #InfinityAGO, a crowdfunding campaign to buy our own Infinity Mirror Room by internationally renowned artist Yayoi Kusama. We’re off to a great start but we’ve got a ways to go.

For 12 weeks last spring, the AGO hosted the wildly popular exhibition Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors. And Toronto went polka dot crazy! Over 165,000 people came to the exhibition. We made headlines when a happy couple got engaged in an Infinity Mirror Room and an etiquette column advised an ex about how to handle tickets purchased pre-breakup.

We extended our hours until midnight the last few weeks of the exhibition. And people lined up around the block for a chance to experience Kusama’s magic. What a testament to the power of Kusama’s vision! But not everyone got the chance to see Kusama’s immersive work.

Inspired by the outpouring of love shown for Kusama, we’re inviting the public to help us bring a new Infinity Mirror Room to the AGO – but this time, forever! The AGO will be the first museum in Canada and only the 19th public museum in the world to own one. We launched #InfinityAGO this fall so we can bring the work to the AGO as soon as possible, in spring 2019.

Exciting, right? But before that can happen– we need your help.

The AGO has secured half the purchase price of an Infinity Mirror Room. Our goal is to raise $1.3 million in 30 days. To get there, we need visitors, AGO Members and the public to donate and help us spread the word. Any donation amount is welcome. Donors of $25 dollars or more will get a chance to see the Infinity Mirror Room before the public.

And there’s more. The more you give, the more you’ll get other fantastic benefits, such as limited edition Kusama tote bags. More details about the campaign and the benefits are at infinityago.ca.

But wait! What does the artwork look like, you ask? As we raise funds, we’ll reveal pieces of a photo of the artwork. Help solve the mystery by donating today! And be sure to follow #InfinityAGO for updates and share the news with friends and family.
