December’s First Thursday is a celebration of the landmark exhibition The Great Upheaval: Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910-1918 featuring unforgettable performances and interventions exploring ideas of political, social, and personal change.

November’s First Thursday will feature all things photography related, culminating in the special presentation of the $50,000 Aimia | AGO Photography Prize in Walker Court. All four nominees will be present for the announcement, which will feature special presentations by local personalities about each of the artists.

October’s First Thursday is your chance to get an exclusive preview of a selection of the 112 spectacular art projects that will be on offer at Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2013, the all-night contemporary visual-art event, including Ai Weiwei’s Forever Bicycles, the massive installation set for Nathan Philips Square.

September’s AGO First Thursday delves into the imagination and experience of the world’s most influential contemporary artist: Ai Weiwei, including a specially ticketed live video chat with the artist himself and a performance by the Toronto punk band Fucked Up.

August’s AGO First Thursday takes inspiration from Kim Adams’ dazzling and detailed sculptures, inviting you to focus on a kaleidoscope of miniature worlds inside the Gallery for one night only.

The AGO First Thursday in July is an explosion of sound and technology, taking its inspiration from the major exhibition Lost in the Memory Palace: Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller.

See some of Toronto’s best and brightest emerging artists kick off the summer season of First Thursdays! Walker Court goes queer for the night, with performances by VAG HALEN, Light Fires, and a DJ set by the Mighty Real DJs.

VAG HALEN take centre stage in Walker Court just one week after making their international debut at the Venice Biennale, where they are playing the opening of Toronto artist Shary Boyle’s installation at the Canadian pavilion.
