Youth Workshop: It Can Be Anything
This workshop is designed to support participants who identify as having intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Recommended age group: 13- 18 years old.
Join us for an interactive artmaking workshop that brings into the limelight the budding artistic talents of neuro-diverse youths. In this online virtual studio, we will take a look at an artwork from the AGO Collection to explore the many ways you can express yourself. It can be anything!
This workshop is inspired by the artwork of a young woman named Rachel, and a short film showcasing her artwork called It Can Be Anything. The short film uses animation to take us through the compelling artwork of a person with neuro-diverse creativity.
Guided by the AGO instructor’s and participant’s prompts, we will explore pattern through collaborative and individual drawings. Looking at the artwork of Yayoi Kusama, we transform markers and crayons into a vibrant watercolour resist painting that can take any form. This is an opportunity to create in an encouraging virtual community.
Suggested Art Materials: Multiple sheets of paper (Suggested: Mixed Media Paper), crayons / oil pastels, coloured markers (water-based), water and brush
Live sessions will contain automated closed captions.
Closed captioning is available in this recording.
