Printmaking class watching a demo on silk screening

Introduction to Printmaking

Create a wide range of images using traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques. We will use a large format printing press for collagraphs, dry point, and abstract monoprinting. Printmaking is an excellent way to test out colour theory with the ease of merely switching colours in your ink choices. Dry point etching is an extension of drawing and through application of ink the mood can be manipulated. This course will also cover techniques that can be utilized in your own studio. Relief printmaking using softoleum and silkscreen printing using cut stencils will be explored as well.

All inks and basic materials are included in this course. If students want to work in larger formats they are responsible for purchasing their own printing plates and papers to allow for the size increase.

This course meets in the AGO's Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School. Participants must be 18 or older. Space is limited.

ATTENTION: No class on Monday October 9.
