To Infinity and Beyond

The AGO’s Weston Family Learning Centre (WFLC) recently recieved a new look with a hand-painted mural by artist Yen Linh Thai. Located on the curved wall leading to the Dr. Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School, the imaginary landscape was inspired by the environment and works in the AGO Collection.

The City of Toronto has recently erected a much-needed bridge connecting the interior of the West Toronto neighbourhood Liberty Village directly to King Street. Running between Western Battery Road and King St. West, the three-storey pedestrian and cycle bridge is adorned with vibrant mural works by three Toronto-based artists – one of whom is Rebecca Baird, an Art Educator, Indigenous Programming, here at the AGO.

You can visit the AGO in the early afternoon and hear award-winning comics artist Kate Beaton discuss her brand new book, then make your way north to the Toronto Reference Library to experience Canzine – the largest festival of zines and independent print culture in Canada.

The AGO exhibition Faith and Fortune: Art Across the Global Spanish Empire gives visitors an exclusive chance to critically study the mechanics of colonization by examining the visual culture of the Spanish Empire.

Everybody knows

Today marks legendary Canadian artist Leonard Cohen’s birthday. Though he would have been 88, his groundbreaking body of work will live on forever. A poet and novelist, a singer, songwriter, painter and photographer, Cohen was an artistic force.
